Elisha Burton
Director / Registered Manager

Hello, thank you for visiting my site, my name is Elisha Burton, and I am the founder and registered manager of Unique Options+ Ltd. This company is close to my heart as I am passionate about providing care and I always go above and beyond for everyone within my care. I have taken the time to build a team who are caring, friendly, hardworking, reliable, flexible, punctual and as passionate about their work as I am.

I hold a BA (Hons) in Learning Disability Nursing and Social Work, and I have been a registered Nurse and Social Worker since 2008.  I have nineteen years of experience working in care with most of my caring expertise gained from working with people who have a learning disability and/or have complex needs. I am committed to providing the highest standard of care to each individual and I strive to empower others to live independently within the community, therefore enhancing their quality of life.

I have a practical common sense approach to my work and can relate very well to service users, family members and members of staff. I can maintain formal and informal professional relationships and believe that honesty and building trustworthy relationships are of paramount importance.

I founded Unique Options+ to make a difference to peoples lives and to provide each person in my care a high-quality service which I believe we all deserve. Over the years I have witnessed some less than desirable care provision and I vowed to put myself in a position where I can ensure a quality service is given at all times. My passion is to work with people who have a  disability and provide them with a holistic service where I work with them in a personalised way to support them physically as well as emotionally and give them the support to feel an equal and valuable part of society.

I have worked with people who display behaviour that challenges and I have also witnessed how this is managed. At times I have found how the action is managed difficult to accept as I believe all behaviour is for a reason and as a learning disability nurse we were taught to find this reason by working with the individual and develop positive steps together to change this. Due to this, I have studied the positive behaviour model and incorporated it into Unique Options+ way of working as I feel the model works exceptionally well with positive outcomes for the individual and I ensure all my team have and work within the same principles, so the care we provide is always transparent. I have also ensured that this company operates on the Person-Centred Value model, and our team receive training on this and I stand firmly on the concept of care “Nothing About Us, Without Us” – everything we do to support an individual with will be developed around them as an individual, their family and the multi-disciplinary team.

My aim for Unique Options+ is to provide a family feel to all individuals and their family members where we can all talk together, be open and honest, and for us as a team to be approachable and understanding at all times. I want individuals and family members to feel safe to talk about things that may be making them unhappy so that we as a team can work with them to change things as required.

I believe it is vital for family members to be involved in care but also respect when this isn’t the individual’s wishes. I also appreciate people have different religions/beliefs and we as a team will make sure that the individual is able to practice their faith as much or as little as requested. People with no religion will also be respected and be supported in different activities when requested.

I am a Wife and a Mother of 3 children, my family are very important to me and I love  spending time with them. I have a strong Christian faith and I enjoy being involved in the church when I can.  My faith influenced the ethos of this company in that “everything we do; we do with love”.
