Our Values

Our Values

Unique Options+ works within the 6C’s of care.

Care:  In our organisation, this means ensuring high-quality care is at the centre of all we do and means we consistently deliver care that is focused on your personal needs and wants. We do this by providing support and listening to you and your families wishes, wants, and beliefs.

Compassion: Compassion means delivering care with empathy, respect, and dignity, recognising people’s emotions, and forming relationships based on individuality.  For example, we work with you as an individual, providing care in a non-judgemental way and treating everyone with kindness and empathy and supporting you in the way you require.

Competence: Competence means that all our staff members understand their role and have the knowledge and skills to provide support to people within their care. We as an organisation ensure all our team are thoroughly trained and competent before working solo with you. All carers and management team receive full mandatory training as required plus training around the positive behavioural model, person-centred care, autism, different learning disabilities, PEG feeding, epilepsy, medication and many more. We work with you as an individual, family members and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best decisions are made for the person requiring care.

Communication: is essential in care and we as an organisation, always practice the well-known quote, “Nothing About Us, Without Us”. We work with you as an individual, family members and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure your needs are continuously met. We as a team are always working in a person-centred way, making sure that ‘YOU’ are at the centre of everything we do.

Courage:  means doing the right thing, speaking up when there are concerns. We as an organisation want the people we care for, their families and the care team to feel safe. We aim to create a caring family environment where carers and the people we care for feel safe and comfortable to speak up when they have worries or concerns. We will take these on board as a management team and make changes as required and if possible, find new and improved ways to work.

Commitment: is something we can promise everyone within our care, their families, and the multi-disciplinary team. We, as an organisation, are committed to you and your needs, and to ensure that you and everyone in our care always receive the highest standard of care.

Unique Options+ works within the Person-Centred Value model

Individuality:  We understand that each person has their own identity, needs, wishes, choices, beliefs, and values. We make it a priority to work with you as an individual when providing care and support.

Rights: We believe that each person has a right to speak your mind and be kept safe from harm, as well as the right to dignity, respect and equality. We make sure your rights are respected, as well as people involved in your care.

Choice: We believe that individuals should be empowered to make choices about their care and support package. We ensure that we give information in a way that is clear and easy to understand so you can make informed choices. When working with individuals who cannot express their wants, needs, and wishes in words, we as a team will find other ways of communicating.

Privacy: We believe that everyone has a right to private space and time when needed. Privacy is about how and where care and support are given, especially when it involves personal care or private communication. Privacy includes not talking to anyone about your confidential information unless you give permission. The only time this information will be shared is on a need-to-know basis to improve your care and support or to protect yours or other people’s safety.

Independence: We encourage individuals independence by looking at what we can do for you and empower you to do as much as possible for yourself whilst offering support when needed.

Dignity: We believe in treating everyone in a dignified way by treating people with respect, valuing your individuality and your ethical and moral beliefs. We, as a team, take time to do things your way; we do not make assumptions about how you want to be treated.

Respect:  We believe that respecting someone means showing that you have importance as an individual. It means that we know you have your own opinions and feelings and that although we may not agree with all of them, we will always respect them.

Partnership: We work in partnership with each person which means involving you, your family and alongside the multi-disciplinary team. We believe the key to a successful partnership is good communication and trust; valuing and respecting what you and others have to say.
